Amano Shrimp
Amano shrimp are named after Takashi Amano, one of the most popular figures in freshwater aquascaping (the art creating a monumental planted tank). These shrimp eat algae and need many aquatic plants when kept in the aquarium. It is vital for them to have hiding places for when they moult (shed their exoskeleton to grow) as when this time arrives they are very vulnerable.
Profile
Care: Easy
Size: 5cm (2 inches)
Lifespan: 3 years
Food: Flakes, live, frozen and some vegetables
Breeding
Hard to breed because the larvae need to develop in salty water.
Note: do not let copper in the aquarium because it is lethal for shrimp! Check if the products you put into your aquarium have copper because if they do then they are not shrimp friendly.
