Sexing: males are cherry in colour whilst females are a dull light brown colour.
Cherry Barb's are egg scatterers that release around 200 eggs. It takes two days for the eggs to hatch and another two days for the eggs to swim. The parents do eat the eggs and therefore it is smarter to use a breeding tank. It is recommended that the breeding tank has marbles instead of gravel. This allows the eggs to fall through the gaps and not be eaten by the parents. It is also recommended that Java Moss is placed in the tank because the pregnant mother likes to lay her eggs in it.
