The Black Widow, also known as the Black Skirt tetra, has a fascinating dark coloration. Its dark dorsal fin is what gives in the common name Black Skirt tetra.

- Feed them live or frozen foods
- provide vegetation (java fern, java moss or spawning mop are cheapest alternatives)
- Make tank temperature around 25.5 to 26.5C (78-80F) and keep the tank dimly lit
- After spawning occurs remove the mating pair
- eggs hatch after 24 hours. The fry can be fed brine-shrimp, egg yolk or finely ground flakes.
