- if two fish are seen courting each other then transfer the female into a breeding tank. The female should stay there at least a night before the male is introduced. During this time she should be fed live food (brine shrimp or mosquito larvae)
- the breeding tank should have marbles or a dark substrate (marbles create gaps for eggs to fall through to they can't be eaten)
- the lighting in the tank should be dim (if in the light the tank should be cover with something to subdue the light)
- When male is introduced continue feeding them live food.
- when spawning takes place the female will lay eggs which will fall onto the substrate or plants.
- after spawning remove the mating pair to prevent them from eating the eggs.
- Fry will hatch within a couple of days and can be fed freshly hatched brine shrimp or crushed flakes on the 2nd day after hatching.
